Liposuction is a surgical procedure performed by a specialized doctor. It is a safe method in which excess fat is suctioned away with cannulas. However, your skin is not tightened with this suction technique and must therefore be elastic and in good condition. Liposuction is not a solution for overweight and cellulite. Liposuction gives the best results in people with a normal and stable weight.
The total treatment duration is about 8 to 10 days. If you use blood-thinning medication, you must stop at least a week in advance.
First, the plastic surgeon discusses your health, medical background, and medication use with you. Your weight and measurements are taken. The surgeon determines whether liposuction is suitable for you and, based on your wishes, which areas and how much fat should be removed to achieve a beautiful result. He will also indicate whether a (combination with) tummy tuck is a better option. The treatment method, the result, the possible risks, and the aftercare are extensively discussed with you. The Smile Partners guide is present during this process. After this, you make the final decision whether you want the treatment or not.
Before the procedure takes place, the surgeon accurately marks the areas where the fat will be removed and the places where the incisions for the cannulas will be made.
The procedure can take place under local anesthesia, sedation (light sleep), or general anesthesia. Depending on the number and size of the locations, the procedure takes about 1 to 2.5 hours.

You must stay in the clinic for some time. You may leave the clinic when the surgeon and possibly the anesthesiologist consider this responsible. Of course, Smile Partners provides transportation to your hotel.
It is advisable to sit and lie on cellulose mats for the first 24 hours and wear old clothing. The postoperative pain is minimal. The treated area is swollen, shows bruises, and is still sensitive for the first 2 or 3 days. You may also feel a little weak. If necessary, you can take paracetamol. It is important to drink a lot (of water). The feeling of weakness quickly disappears.
Small incisions are covered with plasters, larger incisions are sutured. The sutures are removed after a week.
For 2 to 4 weeks, you must wear a bandage to prevent swelling and bruises and to allow the skin to grow together as evenly as possible. It is advisable to walk and stay active carefully. The swelling usually disappears within 4 weeks.
No result is visible immediately after the treatment. After a few days, when the bruises and swelling begin to decrease, your body shapes already show some improvement. After about 4 weeks, when the swelling has largely subsided, the first results are visible.
The final result can only be seen after 4 to 9 months, when the very last traces of swelling have disappeared. The final result depends, among other things, on your muscle building, age, and elasticity of your skin, but your body contours will certainly have improved. The result is permanent. If you gain weight, the new contours of your body will not change.
Complications are rare. As with any other operation, complications can sometimes occur after liposuction, such as an allergic reaction, poor wound healing, bleeding, or infection, despite sterile working. There is a very small chance of thrombosis or risks.
